Beer Kit Instructions – Making Your Own Beer
Follow our simple, step-by-step guide for brewing your own beer at home using our brewing kits. Brew, bottle, and enjoy!
Fermentation
- Stand the can or bag in hot water for 5 minutes to soften contents. Boil 3 liters of water.
- Open the can or bag and pour the contents into your cleaned and sterilized fermenter.
- Add the 3 liters of boiling water to the fermenter and then add 1kg (2.2lbs) of corn sugar.
- Thoroughly mix the contents of the fermenter to fully dissolve the sugar and malt extract.
- Add cold water to bring the volume up to 23 liters total (approximately 17 liters of cold water).
- Stir well and then sprinkle in the supplied yeast. Stir once again.
- Cover the fermenter, place in a warm area (18-21°C, 64-70°F), and leave to ferment.
- Fermentation is complete when bubbles cease (typically 5–6 days), or when a hydrometer stays constant below 1008.
- Rack (transfer) your beer to a clean & sterilized carboy. Allow the beer to clear (about 2 weeks).
Bottling
- Sterilize your beer bottles with a good quality cleaner/sterilizer and rinse thoroughly with water.
- Rack the beer back to a cleaned fermenter. Add 1 cup of corn sugar, stir well, and siphon into bottles (fill to within 1 inch from the top).
- Cap bottles with crown caps, then store for 14–21 days in a warm area for carbonation before moving to a cooler location.
- Enjoy!
After 14 days, your beer should be clear and ready to drink. Chill if desired, pour carefully to avoid sediment, and rinse bottles immediately after use. Your beer will continue to improve for months.
